This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

The primary focus of the Process Leader role is:

  • Develop and lead high performing teams that meet and exceed SSQCDP site objectives.
  • Identify, develop and grow future leaders
  • Responsibility for crisis management and escalation to the Production leads and SLT.
  • Create a world class manufacturing environment leading by example whilst embedding a culture of continuous improvement
  • Whole site responsibility when on shift and take ownership of SSQCDP
  • Provide point of escalation from the manufacturing teams for SSQCDP
  • Ensure communications are cascaded and escalated as required
  • Deliver KPI’s in line with site SSQCDP objectives

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all accidents/near misses are thoroughly investigated and preventative actions are enforced along with feedback to the originator
  • Process confirmation all safety paperwork including RA’s and SOP’s ensuring they are fit for purpose and adding value
  • Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement in all areas.  Lead continuous improvement teams where applicable
  • Ensure problem solving activities are owned at Tier 1 including the use of quality tools e.g. 5 Why’s, 8D, Stop and Solve
  • Responsibility for all SQCDP documentation, ensuring that documents are in date and fit for purpose
  • 100% Compliance to internal process control systems and carry out regular audits on the line
  • Ensure all team members are fully aware of job specification/instructions
  • Responsible for passing work on their designated lines, develop and sustain a 100% RFT culture in partnership with the quality team on shift
  • Drive towards achieving and exceeding set standard yields, investigating any over makes, spoil and re-makes and variances to the BOM in line with the agreed escalation
  • Ensure that the labour plan is aligned with the production plan
  • Ensure the ERP system is accurate and balanced and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved in real time
  • Manage consumable stocks
  • Deliver 100% OTIF
  • Constant review of all working practices in manufacturing with the clear objective of increasing efficiency levels and flexibility in the team
  • Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators for all operational aspects ensuring all daily shift reports are accurate for all manufacturing and support functions. 
  • Site walk round on handover ensuring that workplace organisation is to standard with all non-conformities challenged in real time
  • Manage absence, grievance and disciplinary issues in line with DLR company policies with the support of the HR department
  • Engage, empower, develop and motivate the manufacturing and support teams on shift using coaching and mentoring techniques
  • Effective leadership in managing performance and capability issues using the relevant HR tools
  • Deal with conflict; disciplinary and grievance issues with the support of the HR department
  • Identify, develop and grow future leaders
  • Monitoring individual performance through performance management tools, the PDR and 121 programmes, this will include personnel who may not be on the same shift.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing levels at all times, arranging additional cover, liaising with other teams and HR where necessary

CAPABILITY (qualifications, experience and skills)

  • Comprehensive manufacturing experience in a complex, process environment;
  • ILM/CMI Level 3/4 in first line management (or equivalent)
  • IOSH - Mandatory
  • NEBOSH - Desirable
  • In depth knowledge of production/technical processes and procedures, particularly with respect to SSQCDP
  • Knowledge and experience regarding the application of structured problem solving methods
  • Knowledge and experience of HR processes, (recruitment, absence management, performance management, grievance, disciplinary etc.), able to promote good employee relations
  • Good understanding of budgetary controls and variance analysis within an operational environment
  • Excellent communication, planning and organising skills
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent people management skills with previous experience of leading a team
