This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are looking for a  Security Shift Controller!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that security policy, practice and procedures are maintained and implemented and make recommendations for improvements to the Site Security Manager.
  • To operate and respond to all aspects of Control Room Operation including emergency response i.e., Fire and emergency alarm system.
  • To operate, monitor, evaluate and maintain CCTV systems and ensuring visual images are always to necessary standard, downloading recordings for the business needs and ensuring compliance with data protection.
  • Manage the intercoms, entries and exits of the buildings according to established procedures.
  • Be familiar with all communication systems and be aware of emergency response procedures.
  • Report any failures in the security systems to the Site Security Manager and be familiar with site escalation process. 
  • Promote co-operation, mutual support and teamwork amongst all levels of security, providing active direction and advice to the internal / 3rd party security workforce and all other employees.
  • To fully understand and be proactive in the fire evacuation and emergency procedures and assume role of Incident Commander out of hours in the event an Incident, ensuring evacuations and subsequent actions are executed effectively to minimize risk to life.
  • Conduct scheduled fire alarm testing, carry out checks of the Fire Doors reporting any deficiencies and maintain comprehensive records utilizing Control Room Operator resources to support.
  • Oversee the company search policy ensuring physical searches are conducted as per policy and procedure and reporting any shortcomings to Site Security Manager and ensuring documentation retention periods are met. 
  • Possess a practical working knowledge of all aspects relating to external movements of security products, and the working arrangements of security personnel employed to protect the product i.e., 3rd party security personnel.
  • Actively support continuous improvement activities within the whole of DLR to maintain the company’s efficiency and competitiveness.  
  • To record all reports in accordance with DLR procedures and policies.
  • To report all incidents with an action plan of closure, to the management in an accurate manner.
  • To support the behaviour of working as One De La Rue, sharing best practice, and collaborating with colleagues outside of own sphere of business.
  • To ensure full participation in the performance development review (PDR) process and maintain an up-to-date record of all training and development activities/programs.
  • The above list is not exhaustive. You will be required to undertake other duties within your capabilities, consistent with this role, to support the needs of the business.

  • Qualifications, Training & Skills
  • Has successfully completed G.C.E. A/L.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound planning and security operating skills.
  • Total integrity in all matters.
  • Awareness of current legislation to apply when formally investigating security breaches.
  • Team focused with ability to shape and control team outcomes,
  • Computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook and Word (as a minimum).
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion required.
  • Assertive in nature.
  • Team management skills and instruction/training experience.
  • Significant experience in a Security based, disciplined role.
  • Significant proven experience of Physical Security,
  • Trained in security systems such as CCTV, Intrusion detection and Access Controls.
